Whether you’re a studio or filmmaker in need of a temp score during production or you’re a composer needing a collaborator to help with the final music, Ben is able to deliver on all of your project’s music editing needs. Acting as a music problem solver, the music editor can help stay on top of deadlines, multiple options, preferred selects, and any last minute adjustments to the music on a final mix, not to mention the final record keeping of cue sheets and deliverables. Collaborating with composers, music supervisors, and the post production team, Ben sees the evolution of the musical soundscape from the earliest stages of development all the way through the final mix and release.

ABOUT

Benjamin Robinson is an Emmy nominated music editor with a career supporting both live-action and animated series and films. Growing up with a love of both music and movies, it wasn’t hard to figure out what profession he should pursue. After graduating from Full Sail University with a degree in Audio Engineering, he moved to Los Angeles to start his journey.

Ben got his start working at
Hans Zimmer’s Remote Control Productions. During his time there he performed many different roles and got his first taste of music editing. Working on films like Rush, Man of Steel, and Interstellar taught Ben what it took to work on projects of the highest caliber.

In 2014, Ben began working at Walt Disney Animation Studios as a music editor on all of their feature films and shorts, as well as providing support to all of the company’s other divisions including marketing, consumer products, and parks/resorts. Crafting intricate temp scores for films from Zootopia to Raya and the Last Dragon, there wasn’t a single project at the studio that he didn’t touch.

Ben started working as a freelance music editor in 2019 and started his company,
Ben Edits Music LLC. He earned his first Emmy nomination (Outstanding Sound Mixing and Editing for a Drama or Daytime Fiction Program) for his work on Trinkets. Other shows have included Kevin Can F*** Himself (AMC), United States of Al (CBS), and Ridley Jones (Netflix).

Ben most recently spent time advising the new
Netflix Animation Studios on best practices when engaging a music editor and has since started supporting multiple films in development at the studio.

In addition to editing, Ben enjoys writing music and composed the scores for two of the Walt Disney Animation Studios Short Circuit Experimental Films (Downtown, Songs To Sing In The Dark). This love and understanding of the music production process is what makes him such a great music editor. Music editing blends his favorite parts of the creative side of composition with the technical skills of audio engineering.

When he’s not working on music, Ben can be found reading, volunteering with a local pit bull rescue group, or planning his next trip. He’s always excited to work with new people and believes that the best projects are created with a close relationship between music editor, composer, music supervisor, and post production.

As a member of the
Television Academy and BAFTA, Ben enjoys partaking in industry events and meeting new, up and coming talent.
